The Ely
Igloo Snowmobile/ATV Club invites snowmobile enthusiasts to
experience the sheer beauty of a premier snowmobile destination.
Here in Ely, we are passionate about winter! Our trails span
across three state forests and the Superior National Forest
with scenic wilderness routes where you'll find yourself surrounded
by towering pines.
The Taconite
Trail is the main thoroughfare in and out of Ely in the
winter. Stretching 170 miles between Ely and Grand Rapids to
the southwest with spur routes that will take you nearly anywhere
you want to go. The Taconite Trail offers scenic loops over
the Fishing Lakes, Putnam and Taconite Spur for riders who want
to break away from the pack.
The Tomahawk
Trail, leads riders to the east towards the Northshore and
is without a doubt one of the most scenic trails in the state.
With 86 miles of terrain, the avid snowmobiler can use it to
access hundreds of miles of additional groomed trails-like the
Stony Spur and Yukon Trails.
The Ely
area supports a large lake trail system. The lakes are not staked
or groomed until the thickness is tested for rider safety. As
always, when riding a lake trail system, conditions can change
throughout the season and riders should stay on the trail. Our
other land and lake trail systems include:
